The closure is due to preparations for the upcoming renovation of the Bibliotheca Augusta. As part of this, all staff and materials will have to move to other buildings on the library campus for the duration of the construction work. According to the current state of planning, the closed stacks (Magazin), the Zeughaus and the Kornspeicher in particular will be used to temporarily house the book collections and other materials. The staff will move into offices in the Director’s House, the Leibniz House and in office containers that will be set up in front of the Bibliotheca Augusta.

The library services in the Bibliotheca Augusta are not affected and the Lessinghaus will also remain open.
